Final Post :O)

Hello everybody!

We are so absolutely overwhelmed with your generosity, friendship and love that has been shown to our family. Your presence at the service emphasized how many lives Brian had touched. He will never be forgotten in our lives as we are sure he won't be forgotten in yours. Words cannot express our feelings and a simple thank you is not enough but we would like to thank you nonetheless.

Lots of love,

Chris and Christie

Big Guy Cont'd

Hello everybody!

I just wanted to update everybody on what is happening this week. Brian's celebration of life will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2007 at 11:00 am at the Cloverdale United Church - 17575 - 58A Avenue in Surrey. There will be a tea and coffee service with sandwiches to follow.

For all those who are coming from out of town, there has been a rate of $109.00 per night at the Hampton Inn - 19500 Langley Bypass - 604-530-6545 please quote "Cosens Funeral" for the rate (this rate includes a hot full breakfast and is very close to the house and service).

Love to everybody and see you on Thursday,

Christie

Our Big Guy

Sorry everybody that it has taken us so long to update but the last few days have not been great. We have been spending all of our time with Brian. It is with much regret that we have to tell you that Brian lost his fight at 5:15pm yesterday. It is as hard to write this to all of you is it is for us as a family to go through this. You have been his line to life and for that we are greatful! Thank you for your prayers and thoughts and all your comments as we made sure Brian heard each and every one of them. Once arrangements have been made, we will update the blog with all information.

One thing we ask is for no flowers. Brian's wish was that Christie and Patti are walking the weekend to end cancer in August 07 for him and my sister Sharon. In leiu of flowers for Brian's memory, please sponsor them. It would make the journey that he had to go through possibly better for somebody else.

Thanks for all your love and support, you are all very special to us.

New room

Hello everybody,

Brian was moved on Monday to the Hospice Building to a bigger and brighter room. It's a very nice place and very peaceful. Yesterday was not a very good day. His meds were changed and I believe this is the reason for him not doing so well. We will see how he holds up today and will post later.

Hugs to everybody,

Christie

Busy Week

Hello everybody, sorry for the delay in posts but it has been a very crazy week.

Brian has definatly had a week of ups and downs. By the end of the week he seems to still have high spirits and a smile for everybody. This week we have learned that despite the best of chemo intentions the cancer is still growing. There will be no more chemo at this time. Brian needs to save up his strength to get up more and keep mobile. He was in a great mood this evening and says hello to everyone!

Take care,

Christie

Happy St.Patricks Day!

Brian's days of being good still continue. He's been eating a bit, sitting up in chairs and even WALKING! The next round if Chemo has been put on hold for the moment but there will be some tests that are going to be done to see how the first round has affected him. He send his love to everybody and is loving the new look with his bald head!

Talk to you soon,

Good couple of days

Hello everybody!

Brian seems to have some pretty good days. He was sitting up today actually eating lunch witch he has been unable to do until recently. He's eating bits and pieces and seems to be doing okay with that. He shaved his head yesterday and thinks he looks like "Senior Ray" (a friend of his). He appreciates all your words of inspiration and I print the posts often for him. Friday of this week he will be going in for an evaluation for his next round of Chemo and if all goes well he will be starting round #2 on Monday the 19th, we'll see where that takes us.

Talk to everybody soon!

Quiet Sunday

Hello,

Today was a good day, he is very alert and has come down with a chest infection but is on medication and hopefully that will clear it up soon. He was in great spirits and teasing the nurses and picking on mom as usual. He says a big hello to everybody and enjoys hearing all your comments.

Take care,

Christie

Private Room

Hello!

Finally the other day Brian got his own room!! What a blessing that has been. Now he can close his door and get an okay sleep. He seems to be doing okay for the moment, and is still recovering from the low white blood cell days and sleeps quite a bit. His spirits are still high and when you talk to him, he's his old joking self :O) He is starting to eat a bit, not much but can keep most of it down.

He does however ask for no visitors at the moment unless discussed with them. Also, due to the lengthy hours at the hospital mom has been unable to answer all your phone calls. She is getting them and thanks you for your concern but she just can't answer them all.

Love to all and I will post again soon.

Not so good days...

Hello all,

Just want you to know that we have had 2 really bad days. He is not really eating and mainly sleeping - most likely due to the chemo. They are trying really hard to get Brian into a private room and will keep you updated on that one. I will be printing off the posts tomorrow afternoon so post any words of encouragement and I will take them in the early evening up to the hospital.

Love to all,

Christie

The fight continues...

Hello,

Brian sends his hello to all! Today started off to be a great day with a huge breakfast but that didn't sit all that well this afternoon. He has been mostly awake for most of the day minus a few moments and goes to sleep pretty early. He has been almost sleeping through the night and is conserving his strength for the days to come that his white blood cells will be at his lowest (Mon, Tues & Wed). Hopefully tomorrow he will be able to keep some more food down and will have a good day as well.

Love to all,

Christie

Good Day

Hi all,

It seems that Brian is feeling a bit better and has even made a request for a Tim Hortons tea - for the roll up the win cup of course... But he is in better spirits and says hello to everyone. He has also eaten a bit - Jello and some cookies :O) They will have to wait till monday to have the chemo taken out as it has run it's course but he seems to be doing okay. He greatly appreciates everybody's posts and well wishes and wishes he can have visitors but because of his low energy levels he is still very tired. I have taken all his posts and he has read them all, they are great spirit lifters and we thank you for that!

Again hope everybody is well!

Brian's Progress

Hello all,

I just talked to mom and it seems that he is still sick but it's more of a tan color than the other stuff. But he is not well. He was supposed to get a sleeping pill last night but the nurses didn't give him one so he's pretty tired today. I'm sure that Shona has emailed a few people but the reality of it is that at this time he won't be coming home. I am printing off all your posts and will give them to Brian when I get to the hospital today.

Love to all!

Chemo Day Three

Hi all, this is christie posting for my mom. Brian didn't have a good day at all today. Due to the nausea he was quite dehraydrated and still sick so this morning so they made the decision to go to the hospital. He has been admitted (although still waiting for a room as of 8pm tonight) to Langley Memorial Hospital. He has been on an iv and after another sick spell seemed to be doing a bit better this evening. I will update this as soon as I hear any more news. Everybody take care and talk to you soon!

Chemo Day Two

I guess we spoke too soon as Brian isn't doing as well today. He was sick last night and it has continued all today. Not eating but drinking plenty. He is very, very tired and has slept most of the day. Will see how he is doing later and may post then.

Thanks for you support,

Chris

Chemo Day One

Today was the first of the Chemo Treatments. It took a total of 4 hours in hospital and Brian has come home well but tired. He will still be continuing his treatment for another 5 days and we'll see how he is at that point. He will be home until saturday when he needs to go back to the hospital to have the treatment bag removed. Other than that he has high spirits and was glad to get this started. Most of today has been spent sleeping and currently not been nausiated - which is a good thing!

Will update soon.

Chris
